Update on Fish Kill from Miami-Dade County

MIAMI, Florida —  The Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources, Division of Environmental Resources Management (RER-DERM), took swift action to respond to the fish kill that occurred around the area of the 79th Street Basin. This release includes an update detailing the activities the department is currently conducting, ways the community can help, and County initiatives to protect Bay health:

Miami Dade College Remembers 9/11 with Campus Ceremonies and Events

Miami,  – On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Miami Dade College (MDC) will honor the victims and heroes with ceremonies and events at various campuses. MDC President Madeline Pumariega and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Division Chief Danny Cardoso will attend the Resilience and Strength ceremony at 9 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at the North Campus, West Lawn Plaza. The event will remember nearly 3,000 men, women and children from more than 90 countries who perished on that day. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Coding and Robotics Rock! IGT Kicks Off Its Groundbreaking Summer Camp

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – : The innovative virtual summer program, the IGT Coding and Robotics Rock Camp for Caribbean students got under way today. Mona GeoInformatics Limited (MGI) at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus is delivering the training, sponsored by International Game Technology (IGT), to students from IGT’s flagship After School Advantage (ASA) Program.  Child Development Specialist and Mathematics/STEM educator Nalini Ramsawak-Jodha at UWI, St. Augustine has also joined with IGT and MGI to offer curriculum guidance for the program.

City of Miramar Plans Haiti Earthquake Relief

MIRAMAR, FL - The City of Miramar announced today that they will be holding a community donation drive that will benefit the residents of Haiti who have been impacted by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake which struck the country on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Officials of that country have expressed their need for assistance including items such as medical supplies, hygiene products and other general supplies to displaced citizens.
