Social Justice and Pride Issues Explored in Groundbreaking Island SPACE Caribbean Museum Program Series

Plantation, Florida - In a groundbreaking move, the United States’ first and only Caribbean heritage museum, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, will host an exhibition exploring advancements made by members of the LGBTQ+ community. On Tuesday, May 10, a special opening event will launch the first in the museum’s lineup of social justice issues programming. “Queer Caribbeans: Resilience, Resistance and Reimagining,” will present a multimedia, historical retrospective showcase of the racial and cultural achievements of Caribbean LGBTQ+ rights activists. The project will focus on leaders who set the foundation for victories within the Caribbean LGBTQ+ diasporic community and their contributions to broader LGBTQ+ liberation movements in the United States.

Rep. Wilson Urges Students to Apply for Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Scholarships

Miami, Fla. – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) is accepting applications for the 2022 United Health Foundation, Louis Stokes Health Scholarship Program, Ally Financial Law Scholars Program and Public Policy Scholars Program Scholarships, Stephen Feinberg Scholars Program and Multi-Year Program Scholarships, CBC Spouses Education Scholarships, CBC Spouses Essay Contest Scholarship, CBC Performing and Visual Arts Scholarships, and CBCF HBCU Scholarship. All qualified and motivated Black students who intend to pursue a degree within these fields are highly encouraged to apply.

New Manufacturing Facility to Open on March 10 at 500 Stagg Street in Brooklyn  

Brooklyn, NY – Tomorrow, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), Evergreen Incorporated: Your North Brooklyn Business Exchange (Evergreen), and elected officials will gather to celebrate the opening of 500 Stagg Street, a new $6.8 million manufacturing facility in East Williamsburg made possible with significant City and State funding.  

AFJ Charity Gala Returns in April

New York, NY – The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) announced the 2022 Jamaica Charity Gala to be held in Miami, FL on Friday, April 29th at the incredible Perez Art Museum (PAMM). This year's Gala will celebrate awardees: Ambassador Glen Holden, Lifetime Achievement Award, Keith Duncan, CD International Achievement Award and Donna Duncan-Scott, International Humanitarian Award.

NYCEDC and the New York Public Library Celebrate the Grand Opening of Charleston Library

Staten Island, NY — The New York Public Library hosted a grand opening this morning for its newest location, Charleston Library, located at 225 Bricktown Way on Staten Island. NYPL President Anthony Marx was joined by construction partners at New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), Library staff, elected officials, and community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the 10,000-square-foot building, which makes its debut as the 14th branch in the borough.

National College Fair Comes to Miami, Sunday March 13

The Miami National College Fair returns to an in-person event on Sunday, March 13 with representatives from nearly 100 colleges and universities ready to meet with students and their parents to discuss topics such as financial aid, college planning and admission requirements.
