CTO Announces Theme and Social Media Showcase for Caribbean Tourism Month 2024

BARBADOS – The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has announced the theme for Caribbean Tourism Month 2024, which will be celebrated throughout November: “ONE CARIBBEAN: Building a Resilient Future”. This year’s theme reflects the region’s ongoing commitment to unity, recovery, and sustainable development, with a vision of a stronger, more resilient Caribbean tourism sector.

Study Reveals Record Cruise Tourism Expenditures in the Caribbean and Latin America

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Florida-Caribbean Association (FCCA), the trade group representing the mutual interests of the cruise industry and destinations and stakeholders in the Caribbean and Latin America, is proud to announce that the 2023-2024 cruise year brought record economic contributions to the region. According to the study released today by Business Research & Economic Advisors (BREA), Economic Contribution of Cruise Tourism to the Destination Economies, cruise tourism generated $4.27 billion in direct cruise tourism expenditures – about 27 percent higher than the record set by the previous study in 2018 – along with over 94,000 jobs paying more than $1.27 billion in wage income in the 33 participating destinations.

Arajet Begins Operations at Punta Cana Airport

Punta Cana. - Arajet, a low-priced Dominican airline launched operations from Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) expanding its network of destinations and connecting this important tourist center with the American continent. The Dominican flag line will initially operate 14 destinations to and from Punta Cana. These include Kingston in Jamaica; Lima in Peru; Mexico City and Cancun in Mexico; Bogotá, Cartagena, and Medellín in Colombia; Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador; Toronto and Montreal in Canada; Sao Paulo in Brazil; Buenos Aires in Argentina and Santiago in Chile. With this expansion, Punta Cana Airport is now the airline's second base of operations in the Dominican Republic. Víctor Pacheco, CEO and Founder of Arajet, expressed his satisfaction in offering citizens of the region the opportunity to connect with the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, recognized as the most important tourist center in the Caribbean and the second most significant in the entire continent. “For Arajet, it is a firm commitment to continue democratizing the skies and connecting the continent from Canada to Argentina at the best market prices with world-class service,” Pacheco said.

Barbados Signs Air Services Agreement With Qatar

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Barbados has signed an air services agreement with Qatar saying it is part of a wider initiative by Bridgetown to promote greater regional air connectivity in the Caribbean while expanding international cooperation and diplomatic ties in the Middle East.
