With the start of Black History Month, I brace myself for the mis-telling of Black History yet again.

The announcement that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is being treated for prostate cancer has hit home with millions of families across the nation. But in Virginia, the announcement is particularly relevant as the state’s legislature is gathering on the heels of an opinion by the state attorney general that said insurances should be covering a specific prostate cancer treatment that could save more lives.  

2024 in America is here and it is time for Black people to talk to each other, and trust each other. There is no one answers to the dilemma and problems facing Black people in America, but it is incumbent that we do something positive and take action.

President Biden is on a mission of forgiveness for millions of Americans who cannot get ahead, because of their student debt. Many will argue that if you take out a student loan, you have a responsibility to pay it back. But education is big business, and the interest continues to grow, and many times many Americans need help.

It’s a brand new year, and many people plan to make a fresh start, a new beginning, which sometimes includes a change in the relationship. Yes, dumping their partner.

The climate crisis is not coming; it is here now. We see it all around our communities on a daily basis. And we know it hits frontline and Black and Brown communities first and worst. 

What if the answer to undoing the harm wrought by the demise of America’s manufacturing sector was right in front of us?
