Kingston Set to Host Historic ATP Challenger Tournament

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica will create history in August when they become the first country in the English-speaking Caribbean to host an ATP Challenger tournament.

bicknelPBlaise BicknellSome of the sport’s rising stars will compete in the Kingston Open from August 16 to 29 for valuable ATP ranking points and US$214, 000 in prize money.

By hosting an ATP Challenger tournament, Jamaica joins a global network of countries that hosts tournaments on the main developmental pathway between the elite ATP Tour and the third-tier ITF World Tennis Tour.

Jamaica’s number one player, Blaise Bicknell is expected to lead the region’s charge in the tournament.

The landmark event represents a major breakthrough for sports development and sports tourism in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
