CASTRIES, St. Lucia — Presidents of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) reaffirmed their commitment to the organization’s mission and vision at the Presidents’ Meeting, held on August 22, 2026, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
The meeting gave CFU members an opportunity to connect, review the Union's progress, and discuss priorities for the continued development of football across the Caribbean.
Key discussion topics included the CFU Strategic Framework 2027–2031 and progress across the organization's programs and initiatives. The presidents also examined the challenges being encountered and explored solutions to strengthen the CFU's work and impact.
Programs highlighted included the U14 Challenge Series, CFU Next Generation Referee Course, Women's Match Officials' Course, and other initiatives aimed at developing players, match officials, and football stakeholders across the region.
CFU President Lyndon Cooper said the meeting, held alongside the U14 Challenge Series – Boys, created a valuable opportunity for the membership to come together, engage, and address matters important to the organization's future.
"It was a weekend well spent for the membership, allowing us the chance for levity and connection, while also delving into the business of the CFU in the interest of the people we serve," Mr. Cooper said.
The meeting was also attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Concacaf President Victor Montagliani, whose participation added significant value to the discussions.
"It was important for them to be in the room, to hear and see firsthand the modus operandi of the CFU, the rationale behind our programming, the inroads we are making, and the challenges we face and how we are mitigating them," Mr. Cooper said.
He added that the engagement would help create stronger collaboration between the CFU, FIFA, and Concacaf.
"This will enable what we expect to be seamless synergies where required and the necessary support," he said.
Beyond the business of the meeting, the CFU presidents also participated in a President's Cup match and attended the semifinals and finals of the U14 Challenge Series, providing further opportunities for connection and engagement around the development of the game.
The Presidents' Meeting ultimately underscored the CFU membership's shared commitment to sustainably developing football in the Caribbean and building the capacity of the people who contribute to the sport at every level.
