Statement from Mayor Daniella Levine Cava on the Passage of the American Rescue Plan

MIAMI  —Following the passage of the American Rescue Plan, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava released the following statement:

"Today's passage of the American Rescue Plan marks a turning point in our nation's fight against the pandemic and our efforts to build back better. This historic piece of legislation will equip communities including ours with critical resources to aggressively expand our vaccination campaign, safely reopen schools, and continue delivering essential services like policing and fire rescue. In addition to providing local governments with badly needed support, the American Rescue Plan also lays a sturdy foundation for our country to accelerate economic recovery – strengthening our social safety net by extending unemployment benefits, increasing support for small businesses, and sending direct payments to millions of American families who continue to brave unimaginably difficult circumstances."
