Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Pam Keith in FL-18

JUPITER, FL - The Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) today endorsed former Navy Lt. Commander and Democratic candidate for Florida’s 18th District, Pam Keith. Keith, who would be the first Black woman veteran in Congress if elected, is a lifelong advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights.

“Pam Keith has been fighting for people's rights her entire career, as a Navy veteran, as an attorney, and now, as a candidate for Congress,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Pam will never stop fighting for people's health and rights, and we are proud to support her.”

“Unlike Brian Mast, I will resolutely defend a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body,” said Pam Keith. “Under the Trump Administration, and with the help of legislators like Congressman Mast, women’s health has been under attack like never before. In Congress, I will fight to ensure that women have affordable access to all reproductive health care options, including birth control and abortion care, and that we protect women who choose to work while pregnant and those raising families. We can’t rely on someone who jokes about sex with teenage girls and rape to protect the health of women and girls in Congress.”

Planned Parenthood of South, East, & North Florida serves over 35,000 Floridians and has its administrative center headquartered right in Pam's district in West Palm Beach. Planned Parenthood health centers provide vital services to thousands of women, men, and teens across the district.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, not-for-profit national membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund supports candidates who are advocates for sexual and reproductive health and rights. PPAF is backed by more than 7 million activists, donors, and other supporters working to advance access to sexual health care and defend reproductive rights.

Pam Keith is a U.S. Navy veteran JAG Officer who served in the Middle East and attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. She is the first black woman running to represent Florida’s 18th district, and would be the nation’s first black woman veteran in Congress. Keith also has the support of other women's groups, including Florida NOW and EMILY’s List.

The race has implications on the national stage as the path to Biden’s victory in the critical swing state runs through this Obama-to-Trump swing district. Of note, FL-18 is five minutes from Mar-A-Lago, which means a Pam Keith victory could simultaneously flip a key Congressional district, flip Florida, and send Donald Trump packing.
