Belize and Taiwan Sign Multi-Million-Dollar Agreement to Benefit Women and Young People

BELMOPAN, Belize – Belize and Taiwan have signed a multi-million-dollar agreement aimed at strengthening micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a particular focus on women and young entrepreneurs.

taiwasigThe Belize Women and Youth MSMEs Development Project agreement, a jointly funded initiative valued at approximately three million US dollars, will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Belize and the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.

It builds on the previous cooperation project that supported approximately 2,000 women and over a hundred start-ups and will provide targeted training, business guidance and support to help entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, improve market access, create jobs and achieve sustainable growth.

The Belize government said that the initiative “represents an important step toward building a stronger, more inclusive and resilient economy”.
