PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti – Talks are underway between Haiti and the United States for the resumption of the exportation of mangoes.
Earlier this week, United States Ambassador to Haiti, and Haiti’s Minister of Agriculture Vernet Joseph met to discuss economic growth and agricultural development.
At the end of this meeting, the two men agreed to accelerate efforts to harmonize the objectives of the United and those of Haiti and to increase efforts to restart mango exports that were suspended in October 2022.
The suspension of mango exports represented a loss of between US$15 and 20 million for players in the mango sector from small producers to transporters.
The mango season started here in April and is expected to continue until the second week of September.
