Singer Irie to Appear on Opening Night of January 19-20 Rebel Salute

Coming off what he describes as a strong 2023, veteran artist Singer Irie starts the new year in the same vein by appearing on opening night of the January 19-20 Rebel Salute, dubbed Singers Paradise by promoters.

Singer Irie, who lives in New York City, believes a slot on the popular two-day show can open new doors for him.

“It is a great feeling to know I am performing on Rebel Salute because it’s the biggest culture show in Jamaica, and every year the world looks forward to it. Plus, this year (Tony) Rebel told me that it’s the 30th university of the show so it give me great pleasure to share the stage with some of the great reggae artists,” he said.

Singer Irie added that positive response to several of his songs in the tri-state area earned him a number of shows last year. Chatty Chatty, a collaboration with deejay Peter Metro, is the most popular of those singles.

Chatty Chatty is recorded on the Back To The Days ‘riddim’, produced by TM and God Alone Production. That beat also has songs by Sanchez, Terry Linen, Little Hero and Pinchers.

Previously known as Patrick Irie, Singer Irie is from the Waterhouse area of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital. Throughout his career, he has recorded songs for top producers such as Winston “Niney” Holness, Sugar Minott and Philip “Fatis” Burrell.

Since his change in moniker eight years ago, Singer Irie has released songs that have done well in New York. Performing on Rebel Salute is another step to re-introducing him to the Jamaican market.

Sanchez, Marcia Griffiths, Mikey Spice, Benjy Myaz, Richie Stephens and Third World are some of the artists billed for Singers Paradise at Rebel Salute, which takes place at Plantation Cove in St. Ann parish.
