Norman Espeut Projects A Healthy Lifestyle With Latest Song 'Stress Free'

Most music fans in Jamaica know Norman Espeut from his days with KOTCH, a band that hit it big in 1983 with Jean, a song in which he yearns for a voluptuous lady.

Espeut went solo years ago, and sings a different tune these days. He projects a healthy lifestyle with Stress Free, his latest song.

From St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica, the veteran singer wrote and produced the track which was released in January. 

“Stress Free is promoting good health and wellness, so the message behind the song is, ‘good health trumps all else’. Life has taught me that without good health and wellness, life is of little worth,” said Espeut.

As he gets older, he says avoiding things that are potentially dangerous to one's health, such as healthy alcohol consumption and second-hand smoke. 

Espeut was raised on the music of classic reggae singers like Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs and John Holt.

His breakthrough as an artist came with KOTCH, which followed-up Jean with covers of Tears, originally done by R&B group Force MDs, and Smokey Robinson's Cruising.
