Etana's Latest Album "Nectar of the Gods" Has Been Released

Etana has been, arguably, the most prolific major reggae artist in the last five years. The singer has churned out six albums since 2018, three of them being studio efforts.

etanasi‘The Strong One’ maintains that level of productivity with Nectar of The Gods, her latest album, which came out on June 26 through her Freemind Music. Like Pamoja, her previous album, it is produced by Etana.

Another similarity it shares with its predecessor is multiple collaborations, seven to be exact. There are duets with Big Youth, JonFX, Bugle, Shatta Wale and Bugle.

While Pamoja was strong on Afrobeats, Nectar of The Gods is a return to traditional reggae.

“Now that the album is done, I hope my fans will find something about it that they love and that all lovers of great music will see, hear, feel my thoughts, melodies and emotions. If they think it is worth a (Grammy) nod, I am grateful and honored,” said Etana.

Pamoja and Reggae Forever, her 2018 album, were nominated for Best Reggae Album at the Grammy Awards. Nectar of The Gods, Etana, notes, maybe her most diverse effort to date.

“It definitely displays some versatility but the music is definitely more reggae, dancehall and a mixture of the eras,” she said.

One of the leading lights in contemporary reggae, Etana was born in St. Andrew parish, Jamaica and raised in Miramar. She got her break in 2007 with the socially-conscious Wrong Address, which was followed by anthems like Roots, I am Not Afraid and Warrior Love.
