Dancehall Artist Vibes Matrixxx Releases New Song 'Cash Pot'
Arguably the most popular game of chance in Jamaica, Cash Pot is a national obsession in the Caribbean country. Among its thousands of fans is dancehall artist Vibes Matrixxx.
Cash Pot, the deejay’s latest song, acknowledges that popularity. Released in March, it is produced by Signature Records.
“I did the song about Cash Pot because I was inspired by the people in the streets that buy it for a living. For most of them, it’s a hustling that they live off, so I thought of a song because of them,” Vibes Matrixxx disclosed.
The wiry lyricist added that he buys Cash Pot, “now and then”, because, “when you buy big, you win big.”
Cash Pot was launched in 2001 by Supreme Ventures, a company that also promotes thoroughbred racing at Caymanas Park, Jamaica’s only racetrack. Players can choose one of 36 numbers in Cash Pot at a minimum wager of J$10.
Vibes Matrixxx has been in the dancehall game for over 15 years. He is based in Portmore, a sprawling housing development on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital.
Rude Bwoy Keith and Hype Phone are two of Vibes Matrixxx’ previous songs.
In addition to being the home of Caymanas Park, Portmore nurtured the careers of many dancehall acts including the controversial Vybz Kartel.
