Black Ice and Junior Toots Release Collaboration "Be Thankful"

Musical brothers, Black Ice and Junior Toots have been friends for over 25 years. They not only share similar tastes in music, but have a positive outlook on life.

According to Black Ice, who is based on the United States West Coast, Be Thankful was inspired by  “the state of what’s going on in the world, past, present and future. Life experience.”

Junior Toots is the son of reggae legend Toots Hibbert. He dedicates the song to his father who died in September, 2020 at age 77.

“This is a song dedicated to my father and his legacy. I am thankful he got to share his talent with not just Jamaica but the world,” he said. “The single has been getting a lot of love from all those who come across it. Some have said it is uplifting and motivates them to keep gratitude as a top priority.”

Be Thankful is the duo’s second collaboration, the first being Harmony, taken from Junior Toots’ 2001 album, Black Christ Redemption For The Poor.

Black Ice, who is from rural St. Ann parish in Jamaica, has been a recording artist for 25 years. After serving four years in the US Navy, he launched his music career which has so far produced songs such as Bun Dem, Represent and We’re Lovers (with Sophia Brown).
