Narcissism On Steroids

Narcissus from Greek mythology was so vain, overly obsessed with his looks, that he gazed intently at his reflection in a stream, lost in self-admiration, slipped, fell in and drowned. But what about those mortal persons who exhibit the traits of narcissism?

GreekmaA narcissist by definition is a person who has excessive love or admiration of themselves. Narcissists also think that the world revolves around them. The Mayo Clinic says that ‘Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their own importance.

They need and seek too much attention and want people to admire them all the time. People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth, and are always upset by the slightest criticism.’

In many cases where the narcissist is highly critical of everyone and everything around them, they fly into a psychotic rage if someone dares to criticize them. They take it to another level, narcissism on steroids I call it.

The narcissist is often unhappy and disappointed when they’re not given the admiration that they believe they deserve. Naturally this affects their relationships, which they may find troubled and unfulfilled. After a while, people may not enjoy being around them.

As a result, the narcissist is almost impossible to please, as they focus their criticism on almost every aspect of their surroundings, including their partner. Here are some of the symptoms. They have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant admiration. They make their achievements and talents seem bigger than they really are, blowing everything that they do out of proportion.

They believe that they are superior to others, are extremely critical and look down on people who they feel are not important. They expect special favours from people, are envious of others, and believe that others envy them. They come across as conceited and insist on having the best of everything, even though they resent it when anyone else has anything that compares to what they have.

Nothing is good enough and they always want something or somewhere nicer. They react with rage and contempt and try to belittle other people to make

themselves appear superior. They often feel depressed and lonely because they fall short of perfection.

Let’s not forget not being able to please the narcissist when it comes to romance, for if it’s a woman, no man can ever please her, as he will always come up short. Naturally she will blame him and not see that it is her own narcissistic tendencies that prevent her from enjoying the moment.

If it’s a man, he will hop from one woman to the next, always seeking fulfillment that eludes him, for he’s so in love with himself that he’s unable to garner satisfaction from anyone else.

Oh my goodness, who would have thought that when that guy Narcissus fell into that stream and drowned as he gazed at his reflection, that he would have left such a legacy of mental disorder and crosses named after him?

I’m quite sure that some of you reading this can relate to these findings, and you may even recognize some persons or person who fits this description. Of course, the narcissist will dismiss it as utter rubbish that does not apply to them at all.

‘A narcissist never cares about how you feel, never appreciates you, never makes you feel good about yourself, they will ruin special occasions like birthdays.’

All along I thought that narcissists were only obsessed with their looks and self-admiration, but after delving into extensive research, I can see that it’s been taken to a different level, narcissism on steroids

A woman who’s involved with a narcissist will experience hell, and so will a man who’s involved with one., but they dare not broach the subject, for remember what the experts say, the narcissist does not take criticism well.
