KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reggae Girlz striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been listed among the world’s top 100 female footballers in 2022 by British media outlet The Guardian.

Despite the slight drop in position, The Guardian said she will rise well up the rankings in 2023 if her form at the end of 2022 continues.

“It took the Jamaican star a little time to build into life in England as Manchester City started with Ellen White last season, but since the England forward’s retirement, Shaw has shown the goalscoring prowess everyone knew was there,” it said.

“Her ability to link up and create has led to Shaw topping the WSL scoring charts this season with eight goals for Gareth Taylor’s side,” The Guardian added.

Shaw netted eight goals in Women’s Super League games this year. She added two more goals in her two UEFA Women’s Champions League appearances.

The seasoned international who is Jamaica’s all-time leading goal scorer with 56 goals in 38 appearances, will captain the national side at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Leading coaches, former players and journalists from the women’s game were among the 119 judges for this year’s Guardian top 100 female footballers’ list, compiled in association with The Offside Rule Podcast.

The Guardian’s top 100 male footballers will be out in January 2023.
