Guyanese Sprinters Jasmine Abrams and Emanuel Archibald Find Success at PANAM Games

SANTIAGO, Chile – Jasmine Abrams captured silver and teammate Emanuel Archibald took Bronze as Guyana tasted success in the 100 meters finals at the Pan American Games on Tuesday night.

abramjaGuyana’s Jasmine Abrams.Abrams, 29, clocked 11.52 seconds to follow home winner, Cuban Yunisleydis García, who was timed at 11.36 seconds.

Trinidadian Michelle-Lee Ahye, a former Commonwealth sprint champion, clinched bronze in a time of 11.53.

Ahye’s teammate, Reyare Thomas, finished sixth in 11.69.

Archibald, meanwhile, crossed the line in 10.31, as José González of the Dominican Republic took gold in 11.36, with Brazil’s Felipe Bardi second in 10.31.

Jamaican Odaine McPherson was one from last in 10.44.

On Wednesday, Abrams’ younger sister Aliyah Abrams, will line up in the final of the women’s 400 meters final as the only Caribbean athlete in the event.
