Economic Impact Payment Resource Guide: What You Need to Know

Dear Colleague,

socialsecI am pleased to share the attached resource guide, titled Economic Impact Payments for Social Security and SSI Recipients – Steps to Take and Schedule of Payments.  This guide provides information for Social Security beneficiaries (retirement, survivors, disability) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients related to the COVID-19 economic impact payments.

You can also find this resource, and more information, on our Social Security & Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) webpage.

Please also pay special attention if you assist SSI recipients:

Note the May 5th deadline—and the important necessary steps—for SSI recipients who did not file a 2019 or 2018 tax return and who have a child to receive $500 economic impact payments now for their children.

How SSI recipients can and cannot receive these $500 economic impact payments now.

Missing the May 5 deadline will require the SSI recipient to wait until next year to file a tax year 2020 tax return to get those $500 payments.

I encourage you to share this information with your members, colleagues, affiliates, and other interested parties. I appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Buckner
