Alliance for Aging to Hold New Face of Aging Healthcare and Senior Services Conference

Miami, FL - The Alliance for Aging, Inc. announces the 4th Annual New Face of Aging Healthcare and Senior Services Conference. This special event will be held on Friday, March 27 at the DoubleTree Miami Airport and Convention Center. Nearly 400 healthcare and aging professionals are expected to attend.  The conference will feature an extensive industry EXPO, a Networking Luncheon and Keynote Address and topical breakout sessions.

The Keynote Speaker will be Louise Aronson, MD, MFA, geriatrician, writer, and professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. The author of Elderhood and A History of the Present Illness, she is a regular contributor to the New York Times and the New England Journal of Medicine among other publications. Next Avenue, public media’s first and only national journalism service for America’s older population, named her as one of 12 “Influencers in Aging” for 2019.

Two morning breakout sessions will be held on topical issues affecting older people. “On The Streets: The Crisis of Elder Homelessness” will address the nature and growing crisis of elder homelessness. It will include discussion of a model program in Boston that specializes in providing permanent supportive housing, as well as developments in the local area to respond to the dramatic increase in the number of elder homeless. Speakers include Mark Hinderlie, President & CEO, Hearth, Boston, Mass; Ron Book, Chair, Homeless Trust; Symeria Hudson, President & CEO, Chapman Partnership.

The second workshop “Thriving With Dementia: A New Focus On Strengths” will address a positive new approach to working with people with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. It will focus on novel ways to identify an individual’s strengths and to enhance the quality of life of those with the disease.Speakers include Marc Agronin, M.D., Senior Vice-President for Behavioral Health, Miami Jewish Health Systems; Amina Rivero, PsyD; and Chrystine Kopcsik, LCSW, MIND Institute, Miami Jewish Health Systems.
