WASHINGTON, DC - The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is inviting Caribbean nationals to apply for a yearlong fellowship for the Rapporteurship on the Rights of LGBTI Persons.
It said young professionals from Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago are being urged to apply for the fellowship that is being offered in collaboration with the Arcus Foundation.
The IACHR said that the main goal of the fellowship is to train and offer the opportunity to early-career professionals to learn about the protection mechanisms of the Inter-American human rights system regarding the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, gender-diverse, and intersex persons and efficiently apply them in their work.
”Fellows will engage in research, analysis, and advocacy related to LGBTI rights within the Inter-American human rights system. Responsibilities include drafting reports, supporting casework, and contributing to policy recommendations.
”This fellowship provides a monthly stipend of US$3,200. Fellows will work remotely, allowing for flexibility and the ability to contribute from any location. The duration of the fellowship is 11.5 months, with a tentative start date of October 15, 2024,” the IACHR said in a statement.
The deadline for applications is September 20, this year.
