M-DCPS Magnet Programs Offer Students a World of Choices

When it comes to educational opportunity and innovation, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is leading the country as one of the most innovative and progressive school districts with more than 370 distinct magnet programs available for students in over 100 public schools throughout the county. M-DCPS Magnet programs foster diverse and equitable learning environments, incorporating innovative curricula and research-based teaching methods. The programs ensure that all students experience the highest quality education while building on their interests, talents, and abilities through five unique thematic strands of study – International Programs, Liberal Arts, S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Virtual Learning and Visual & Performing Arts.

scienmM-DCPS Magnet International Programs offer students the opportunity to acquire foreign languages and develop into well-rounded, creative, compassionate citizens of the global community. The Liberal Arts Program gives students various opportunities to explore Business, Global Studies, Legal Studies and the service industries through a challenging interdisciplinary curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. S.T.E.M. programs encourage students with an interest or skill strength in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics fields to explore and develop their talents and prepare for a future in the fastest-growing career industries worldwide. Online Academy is available to all students in grades K-12. Lastly, the M-DCPS Visual and Performing Arts Programs provide intellectually stimulating and educationally challenging classes in the Arts or Arts Technology for students who demonstrate a talent in a particular art form or show a strong interest in the arts.

Families can explore the various choices available at M-DCPS by visiting miamimagnets.org. Applications can be completed online or via mail by the January 15th deadline. If applicable, parents/legal guardians must set up an appointment for Visual & Performing Arts auditions or International Language testing. Students will be selected for each program through a random selection process, and notification letters will be sent out around March 15, 2023. Parents/Guardians must declare their program acceptance by the specified deadline date.
