Kingston Night Market Supports International Jazz Day 2026

Kingston, Jamaica: Kingston Night Market (KNM), the weekly, Corporate Area artisan showcase, has joined forces with the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, UNESCO and the Jamaica Music Museum for this year’s staging of the International Jazz Day concert, this Thursday, April 30.

KNM’s Hyacinth McDonald noted that this is the third year that the artisan market is supporting the organisers of Jamaica’s observance of International Jazz Day. She described the association as symbiotic, as both entities benefit.

“It was an immediate yes when we were invited to partner on this project by Herbie Miller of the Jamaica Music Museum. His vision for this concert and our vision for Kingston Night Market are perfectly aligned, so we have just seen it grow from strength to strength. KNM is a big thing, we have a brand, and we are working to build the profile of our vendors, and this is what the Jazz Day celebration is all about,” she shared.

“Patrons will experience good food, authentic Jamaican art and craft as well as great Jazz music… a great experience,” she added.

Kingston Night Market is held every Tuesday at 8 Hillcrest Avenue, in St Andrew, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The event showcases Jamaican Art, Craft, Jewellery, and fashion. It offers a truly authentic Jamaican experience with Jamaican food and drink, complemented by live music.

International Jazz Day is the culmination of Jazz Appreciation Month, which draws public attention to jazz and its extraordinary heritage throughout April. In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly formally welcomed the decision by the UNESCO General Conference to proclaim April 30 as International Jazz Day. The United Nations and UNESCO now both recognise International Jazz Day on their official calendars.
