Belize and Mexico Collaborate on Cattle Reproductive Technology Project

BELMOPAN, Belize – Belize has launched a week-long training programme on reproductive technology in livestock focusing on capacity building to reduce inefficiencies in cattle and small ruminant milk and meat production.

coleffyThe initiative is being held in collaboration with the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) and is also intended to integrate forage management in monoculture systems to improve sustainability as well as nutritional conditioning of regional livestock to enhance productivity.

“This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both Belize and Mexico to advancing agricultural innovation and food security in the region. By equipping local technicians and extension officers with cutting-edge knowledge, the program aims to boost efficiency, improve livestock health, and contribute to the long-term resilience of Belize’s agricultural sector,” according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and New Growth Industries (MAFSINGI).

The initiative is being attended by MAFSNGI extension officers, University of Belize Central Farm field technicians, and Belize Livestock Producers Association (BLPA) technicians to strengthen technical expertise in livestock management.
