GEORGETOWN, Guyana – A solar-powered water treatment plant has been commissioned in Port Mourant, Berbice, with officials indicating that the project signifies a significant step towards climate resilience in the region by integrating renewable energy into critical water infrastructure.

CARICOM Appoints Climate Envoy, Dr. James Fletcher

GEORGETOWN, Guyana –  The former Minister for Public Service, Information, Broadcasting, Sustainable Development, Energy, and Science and Technology in Saint Lucia, Dr. James Fletcher, has been appointed to the post of CARICOM Climate Envoy with effect from  January 1,  2025.

Seabird Habitat Restoration Project Begins in St. Vincent

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – St. Vincent and the Grenadines is undertaking a  multi-year project to restore seabird nesting habitats intended also to increase seabird populations by restoring available nesting habitat in Battowia and the Pillories islands here and to compensate for losses to certain species impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010.

Jamaica Names First Special Envoy For Climate Change

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Jan 21, CMC – Jamaica's government on Tuesday named the former principal of the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) as the country’s first ever special envoy for climate change, the environment and matters of the ocean and the blue economy.
