Roots Singer Autarchii Presents the Faces of Good and Evil in New Song 'Blood Ago Run'
Black history is replete with heroes, many heralded, others unsung. The African's story also has its share of villains, many of them from Europe.
Roots singer Autarchii presents the faces of good and evil in Blood Ago Run, a song produced by Jouke Yspeerd of The Netherlands and distributed by Tuff Gong International.
Fred Hampton, the Black Panther firebrand murdered in Chicago by police in 1969, is remembered in Blood Ago Run. So too European tyrants, King Leopold of Belgium and Benito Mussolini of Italy, who are responsible for horrific atrocities in Africa.
"The names listed in the song comprises revolutionaries who stood for a just cause and fascist colonizers to show the contrast. The message behind Blood Ago Run is that immoral acts of oppression will never win. Hence, it calls for the oppressed to stand up against the oppressor," Autarchii explained.
Blood Ago Run also bears the seal of the singer's Red A Red Music Group. Released late last year, it sets the pace for a busy 2024 for the New York-based artist who hails from Kingston, Jamaica.
A student of black history, Autarchii was introduced to Hampton through his voracious reading. He finds it tragic that his legacy is not part of mainstream education.
"Heroes like Fred Hampton are unsung, not taught to black youths to keep them ignorant," said Autarchii, who plans to "release plenty of singles and music videos in 2024."
Since launching his recording career almost 10 years ago, Autarchii has released songs that cover diverse topics such as romance (Black Beauty) and legalization of marijuana (Cure The Pain).
His EP, Disrupting The Status Quo, was released in 2022.
