He added that, “Reggae is steady with its revolutionary and social justice focus but has always had its good share of love songs in my opinion. I do think there’s always room for new ways to express love and relationships. I don’t think enough female artists get light in the reggae community, on that side of it.”

Recorded in Manchester at the home of McAnuff’s father, veteran roots singer Winston McAnuff, Walking on The Moon continues Last Disciple’s relationship with that family, whom he met through Kush’s sister Nadia in 2017.

From Greenville, South Carolina, Last Disciple discovered Jamaican music as a youth, listening to icons such as Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, and dancehall innovators like Linval Thompson with whom he collaborated on Smoking Kush.

Since 2008, he has visited Jamaica regularly to gel with artists and musicians as well as record songs. Smoking Kush, which also featured dub poet Meeka Nyota, did well in South Florida.

Last Disciple is looking for similar traction with Walking on The Moon.

“It has a unique flavor, we put it together effortlessly, Kush and Last Disciple are a mighty combo and are only catching good feedback and vibes from this undeniably nice song,” he said.
