U.S. attorneys general fight push to exclude Caribbean immigrants from census

MIAMI-DADE – The reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of Saturday’s drive-by shooting in Brownsville that killed 7-year-old Alana Washington could rise to as high as $47,500 after Mayor Carlos Gimenez and several County Commissioners followed Chairwoman Audrey Edmonson’s lead by pledging to contribute toward the reward, which currently stands at $15,000 – including $5,000 each from Crime Stoppers, Miami-Dade Police and Chairwoman Edmonson.

NEW YORK – Former Barbados government minister Donville Inniss will be sentenced on Nov. 11 in the United States after he lost an appeal against his conviction on a charge of conspiracy to commit money laundering and two counts of substantive money laundering.

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson on Aug. 3 accepted a donation of 20,000 PPE face masks for distribution in the community from the Taipei Cultural and Economic Office (TECO) in Miami, which represents the interests of Taiwan and is Taiwan’s de facto Consulate General in Miami.

Edmonson will match Miami-Dade Police and Crime Stoppers’ $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of Saturday’s drive-by shooting in Brownsville that killed 7-year-old Alana Washington and also wounded 2-year-old Alto Jacobs III, along with a man and a woman. The match brings the total reward to $10,000. 

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Former Barbados Prime Minister Owen Arthur, and the longest serving head of government for the Caribbean nation, died on July 27.

MIRAMAR, FL – The City of Miramar has announced the untimely passing of longtime City employee, John Kee late Tuesday. John was a former professional basketball player and was hired as the City's first Athletic Coordinator in 2004. At the time of his passing, John served as Parks and Recreation Administrator.
