Pop-Reggae Duo Stashang Release Their Third Single of the Year, 'Cocoa'

With the release of Cocoa on September 26, pop-reggae duo Stashang lived up to their 2024 resolution to release a flurry of songs in 2025. The uptempo single is their third release of the year, following Give my Heart and Where I Lay.

“Because all our records are a team-based production from creating to mastering, ideas on sound are constantly evolving and flowing. Each song intentionally gets its own identity,” said Shango Trex.

He and StarFyah were both raised in Kingston, Jamaica (StarFyah was born in the United Kingdom) which had a thriving music scene that drew their interest. However, it was in the country’s rural tourist hotels that they developed their act as live performers.

Moving to Japan, they found a cosmopolitan reggae colony that prepared them for an official career as Stashang early this year. According to Shango Trex, it is important they present an eclectic sound to reach a diverse audience.

“For us, it’s definitely a modern energy representing dancehall-reggae with some Afro-pop vibes. We want to give people a little piece of everything with our music,” he said.
