Alwayne Love's Self-Titled Debut Album Released May 1st

Before production started on what became his first album, Alwayne Love wanted to record songs with wide appeal. Mark Burke and Steven Ventura, who directed him on the ensuing recording sessions, shared that vision.

AlwaynThe Jamaican singer-songwriter’s self-titled debut was released on May 1 by T25 Records. It contains nine songs that hear Love showing his versatility on dancehall, roots-reggae and pop.

“The record label and I, along with the co-producers, set out to explore different sounds, and different styles of music. Our goal was to highlight all inspiration,” he said.

Africa The Motherland is the only previously released song from Alwayne Love. Wake Up, See me Now and Drop it Supreme are other tracks from the eclectic set, for which production started six years ago during the Covid-19 shutdowns.

Love wrote all its songs with guidance from Burke and Ventura, with whom he has a sustained professional relationship. He has similar ties with T25 Records, a company based in Brooklyn, New York which also distributed Africa The Motherland, released two years ago, and Nobody But Love, the follow-up which came out in 2025.

Alwayne is from St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica, known for producing dancehall acts such as Josey Wales, Ninjaman, Lady Saw and Capleton. Weaned on gospel music, he started his career in that genre as J Love, but transitioned to secular sounds about 10 years ago.

With his first album, there is something for music fans with indiscriminate tastes.

“Take what’s yours and leave the rest, because everyone individually will relate differently, and in the end, that’s what life is all about. So, share this journey with me, and let’s take this time to give God thanks for getting me to this stage in my life,” said Love.
