Bahamas Supports CMEx Kingston Talks |

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has announced its sponsorship of the Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx), slated for the Jamaican capital of Kingston from September 30 to October 4, 2010. "It's wonderful to be recognized in this way by the Ministry, led by Minister of Tourism Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, one of the region's visionaries whose eloquence on the benefits of sustainable tourism for individuals as well as for companies and governments is respected far beyond the Caribbean region," said Lelei LeLaulu, who currently serves as vice president of the nonprofit organization. |

First Haiti Hotel Destroyed by Earthquake Rebuilding |

The Hotel Villa St. Louis was once a thriving business in Bourdon, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. For more than 30 years, the 60-room boutique hotel, a beloved family-run business in the Port-au-Prince community, served as a gathering place for locals and tourists alike, hosting leisure and business travelers, small groups, reunions and weddings. But like many small businesses in the area, the hotel, along with the adjacent St. Louis family residence, was destroyed after collapsing in the earthquake of January 2010, and no insurance proceeds were available to rebuild this once flourishing business. |

The Florida Association of Black Owned Media, Inc. (FABOM), consisting of 15 newspapers and two radio stations reaching more than one million Black Floridians, is a non-profit organization of communication professionals of Black owned media in the state of Florida. FABOM was founded December 22, 2005 by Black publishers and professionals from area newspapers, radio and television stations, public relations and advertising firms. Those in media organizations involved in the dissemination of news as well as freelance journalists, along with specially recognized non-journalists (honorary members) & media related professionals, constitute the membership. The mission of FABOM is to connect forces of universal importance for the encouragement, growth, permanence and financial stability of Black owned and operated media in the state of Florida. |

Time Change for Broward County Transit Community Meeting in Sunrise |

Broward County Transit (BCT) has added a community meeting in the city of Sunrise in advance of a public hearing scheduled by the Broward County Commission on proposed service reductions, service eliminations and bus fare increases that would become effective in October 2010. The community meeting will start at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, at the Sunrise Senior Center, 10650 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise. The community meeting will provide bus passengers an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed service changes. |
