Familiar Faces Spur Haitian Furor over Savannah Monument |
Rudolph Moise, a philanthropist, pediatrician, attorney and amateur Haitian movie star, donated $120,000 to complete the final two Haitian statues. Moise is a Miami physician who recently launched a congressional campaign. Jared Lazarus/Miami Herald Daniel Fils-Aime and Rudolph Moise played no part in a historic Savannah battle to preserve freedom and democracy. $10,000 Awarded to Keep Miami Gardens Beautiful |
(l to r) Tsahai Codner and Claudelle Joseph of Keep Miami Gardens Beautiful receive a $10,000 grant from Waste Management Government Affairs Director Jason Neal to help residents “think green”. The city was one of only 15 in the country to receive the grant from Keep America Beautiful, as part of a nationwide effort sponsored by Waste Management that encourages environmental solutions on the community level. The award was presented at the Miami Gardens City Council meeting on October 28, 2009. Plans for the grant money include the purchase of bottle shaped receptacles to encourage recycling at public venues throughout the city. Making it easier to recycle when they’re away from home will help make Miami Gardens residents even more likely to “think green.” That’s why the city has been chosen to receive a $10,000 cash grant from the national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful (KAB), as part of a nationwide effort sponsored by Waste Management that encourages environmental solutions on the community level. The grant was presented to Keep Miami Gardens Beautiful on Wednesday, October 28th at the Miami Gardens City Council meeting. |
