Surgery for Bahamas P.M.

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis was scheduled to undergo “minor” surgery early this month, according to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis of the BahamasThe statement gave no indication as to the nature of the surgery, indicating only that Minnis, a medical practitioner, would undergo the surgery at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Minnis led his Free National Movement (FNM) to office in the May 10, 2017 general elections, winning all but four of the 39 seats in the Parliament.

The statement noted that Deputy Prime Minister K. Peter Turnquest would act as prime minister in Minnis’s absence.
